Empowering Communities Across the Country
Operating out of more than a dozen offices across the United States, Food & Water Watch’s grassroots organizers inspire communities to tackle corporate control of our food, water and environment.
Enabling People to Take Back Control
From helping people call their representatives about the dangers of factory farm waste, to canvassing from house-to-house to educate people about the necessity of GMO labeling, to planning massive rallies and protests against fracking, our organizers are on the front lines of the fight for safe, accessible food and water. Food & Water Watch builds political power and shows that people can win out over corporate interests.
“I think there’s a sense of discouragement in our current political system. People don’t feel represented in Congress. They don’t feel like their voice matters. Organizing deals with that feeling heads on, and gives people a sense of their own political power.” – Alex Beauchamp, Food & Water Watch Northeast Region Director
Gathering Organizations Around a Common Goal
Food & Water Watch has founded and participates in numerous coalition groups, which bring different organizations together under a united banner in order to achieve a common goal. These coalitions defend our rights to safe food and water on both the national level, such as Americans Against Fracking, and the local level.
Here are a few of the coalitions Food & Water Watch has founded or joined:
- Americans Against Fracking
- Californians Against Fracking
- Don’t Frack Denver
- Keep Nestle Out
- New Yorkers Against Fracking
- Maryland Against Fracking
- Pennsylvanians Against Fracking
- Yes on 522 (label genetically engineered foods in Oregon)
